Summary:
Violin Memory is looking for a Technical Support Engineer who is a motivated individual willing to make a difference for our customers and our company. The TSE role is responsible for assisting customers with installation, configuration and use of Violin Memory Storage Array products.
A successful candidate will have a proven track record of working in IT or product support roles, with demonstrated success improving customer satisfaction. The TSE works on problems of diverse scope and applies good judgment analyzing technical data and selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. The TSE will network with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise. This role normally requires minimal instruction on day-to-day work, and general instructions on new assignments.
Responsibilities:
- Become an expert in Violin Memory products and their environments.
- Interface with customers over the phone or email, and through live WebEx remote support sessions.
- Answer service requests, troubleshoot problems, escalating issues as necessary.
- Document and maintain accurate tracking in CRM Case management and RMA logistics software.
- Develop and maintain knowledge database and solution FAQ’s
- Create defects and enhancement requests in defect tracker
- Setup and configure products in the inter-operability lab for problem replication and isolation.
Qualifications:
- 2-4 years experience in a technical role (IT or Technical Support) with a track record of having provided exemplary support.
- Strong knowledge of computer/storage/network products/protocols in LAN/WAN environments. Requires expertise in at least two core competencies (NAS, Storage (SAN/RAID), networking, Unix/Windows (server-side).
- Strong organizational skills plus excellent verbal and written skills are a must.
- Experience working directly with customers in urgent situations.
- Excellent attention to detail, ability to multi-task and to adapt easily to change, ability to maintain positive attitude while working under pressure and strict timelines.
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated and flexible individual willing to work in a startup environment
- Ability to travel required (10-25%).
Education:
BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred

Storage Appliance Software Engineer
Seeking embedded software developers with experience implementing
features for storage appliances. As a Violin Software Team member,
you will use your experience with features such as LUN management,
RAID, discovery and inventory, performance monitoring, fault
handling, and environmental monitoring for new and existing code.
Experience with C++ and a plus.

Device Driver Software Engineer
Seeking experienced high performance storage driver developer for existing drivers, adding/extending features and supporting new hardware. Candidate will work with OEM partners in porting drivers to custom environments. Experience with multi-OS device drivers for both 32/64-bit CPUs is required. Engineer should be familiar with benchmarking and tuning for high performance. Knowledge of filesystems, database storage, striping and mirroring is helpful. Applicant should have strong communication skills and able to work with hardware engineers and field engineers. Past experience interacting with customers and/or OEM partners is desirable.
Programming Environment:
