Host Interface BoardsThe Violin 1010 Memory Appliance is connected to a host via the PCI Express interface. This connection requires a Host Interface Board (HIB) and a PCIe Cable. The Host Interface Board (HIB) sits in a PCIe slot on the host computer and repeats the signal over the cable. One Stop Systems provides the HIBs. 
The PCIe Cable is specified by PCI-SIG. Cable lengths up to 7m can be supported. The default length is 3m. Each connector is equipped with a retractor allowing the connector to be locked into place.
